Garage door sensors are a vital safety feature that prevents the heavy garage door from closing if there’s something in its path. To clean them safely and effectively use a soft cloth dampened with mild detergent; never use harsh chemicals as they may damage sensitive components inside these devices.
If cleaning doesn’t solve your problem either then check for loose wiring connections at each sensor and also where wires connect back into opener itself because sometimes vibrations caused by daily usage may shake connections loose over time causing intermittent operation problems.
When all else fails consider replacing old batteries within each sensor especially if they’ve been dive in for more than a year. Also, check the power supply to the garage door opener as a whole. If it’s not receiving power properly, this could impact the sensors’ functionality.
Finally, if none of these troubleshooting steps work, then it may be time to replace your garage door sensors altogether. While this might seem like a daunting task, many manufacturers offer easy-to-install replacement kits that come with detailed instructions.
